The Challenge

In 2013, the Archdiocese of Chicago launched To Teach Who Christ Is, a campaign to provide vital funding for Catholic schools and parishes throughout the archdiocese. In 2014, the campaign reached a critical point and needed a new plan to achieve its $350 million goal by the end of 2016.

The Solution

After conducting a rapid review to determine the best path forward, CCS began managing the campaign. A multifaceted approach comprised of eight simultaneous tracks of activity that included robust data analysis, strategic interviews with donors and staff, a pastors focus group, and an online donor survey. CCS also conducted a development assessment that focused on revitalizing the Annual Catholic Appeal, providing advice on staffing and structure, and probing Chicago’s broader Catholic community about the potential for greater cross-ministry collaboration.

The Impact

The new campaign strategy and guidance helped realign and reenergize the campaign. The campaign, which concludes in 2016, has surpassed its goal.
