The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture came into force in 2004 and has since been ratified by 123 countries. In 2009, CCS partnered with the Treaty to create a fundraising plan for a global initiative addressing food security and adaptation to climate change. CCS examined the efforts of other start-up multilateral organizations and, combined with their extensive knowledge on fundraising best practices, prepared a strategy of steady and progressive growth that builds upon the Treaty’s core constituents and outlines new avenues of growth. The fundraising plan was ratified by all members in June 2009 and CCS is currently supporting the Treaty’s effort to raise the $116 million target outlined in the plan.
