Providing Health Resources to Musicians

The Challenge

Founded by The Recording Academy in 1989, MusiCares provides confidential emergency health and human services and addiction recovery resources to music people in need. MusiCares also provides workshops on health essentials, medical and dental clinics, specific clinics for mammograms and flu shots, and health fairs which include screenings and other general medical information and services. The organization wished to build an endowment to support and continue these critical services. art forms in Utah—was focused on increasing its annual operating support and raise the endowment of organizations to a higher level. This would would enable the delivery of increasingly compelling live performances to current and future Utahans. To do so, the organizations embarked on the Campaign for Utah Symphony and Utah Opera.

The Solution

After years of internal planning, MusiCares Foundation engaged CCS to provide campaign management and oversee all aspects of the campaign. Initially, CCS focused on developing the campaign plan, recruiting and training leadership, building the prospect list, developing cultivation and solicitation strategies, finalizing the case for support, and creating materials. As the campaign unfolded, CCS continued to play a vital role in driving activity, providing ongoing strategy, staffing executive and volunteer leadership, and overseeing all back-office campaign functions.

The Impact

The campaign raised nearly $13 million on the initial $10 million goal, ensuring the futures of MusicCares’ and the musicians who require the organization’s support. the organization’s future. Due to its success, the campaign ensured permanency for the organizations. They have been able to attract the highest caliber guest soloists, conductors, stage directors and designers available. The campaign also funded use of the nationally renowned Opera Production Studios to provide enhanced theatrical experiences to audiences.
