Key Elements

  • Our partnership successfully raised awareness about USA for IOM initiatives and expanded brand visibility.
  • USA for IOM raised over $5.4 million during our engagements.
  • We identified over 150 top prospects and provided over 350 hours of advisement for senior leadership.
  • USA for IOM continues to raise money for people affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Venezuelan refugees in Central and South America.

Our partnership with CCS Fundraising from 2018 to 2023 was transformative for USA for IOM. Through their expertise, we successfully expanded our brand visibility, identified and cultivated high-value prospects, and helped raised over $5.4 million to support critical initiatives. CCS helped us strengthen our private sector fundraising strategy, allowing us to build vital relationships with high-net-worth individuals and the private sector. Their guidance was instrumental as we navigated the challenges of global crises, from the Russia-Ukraine conflict to the Venezuelan refugee situation. Thanks to CCS, we are well-positioned to continue raising the funds necessary to support migrants and displaced persons worldwide.

THE CHALLENGE

CCS was retained to help USA for IOM strengthen its private sector fundraising strategy and develop an achievable plan of action, including meaningful financial and activity-based goals.

THE SOLUTION

USA for IOM initially engaged CCS Fundraising for a feasibility study in 2018. Once the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022, an Obama Foundation tweet recommended USA for IOM as an organization to support, leading to increased donor gifts and engagement. Following this spotlight on the organization, CCS was re-engaged in a specific role to organize good stewardship practices and help with prospect management.

We assisted USA for IOM in identifying and cultivating partnerships for implementation in the migration space, as well as funding Entrepreneurship in Movement, a program focused on supporting Venezuelan refugees in their host countries throughout Central and South America. We reshaped their case and major funding buckets and worked with them to build relationships and networks. Toward the end of our engagement, the board became increasingly involved in cultivating partnerships and formed committees, such as the community engagement and governance committees.

THE impact

We identified over 150 top prospects and provided over 350 hours of advisement for senior leadership. USA for IOM raised over $5.4 million during our engagements.

USA for IOM supports a wide range of programs that address the immediate and long-term needs of migrants and displaced persons. The global impact of CCS’s engagements persists as USA for IOM continues to raise money for people affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and displaced Venezuelan refugees in Central and South America. Our engagement successfully raised awareness about initiatives and expanded brand visibility.

Featured Team Member

Working with USA for IOM was a unique privilege. The organization’s dedication to delivering on the promise of migration, coupled with CCS’s expertise on cultivation and stewardship practices took USA for IOM to new audiences and positioned them for longer-term fundraising and strategic private sector partnerships. As the global community is continuously characterized by new and evolving natural disasters, economic crises, and conflicts, being able to impact countless people—especially in Ukraine and Venezuela—with crucial funding was a singular opportunity in my CCS career thus far.
